Natural honey from the Philippines

You can find filipino produced 100% natural honey (Sitsirya brand) at Kultura Filipino.

This natural sweetener has great nutrition values like low calories, low carbs and 0% sodium. For a small glass can (320g) the price is below P100, higher for the bigger can.  That is still lower price than the natural honey imported from the US, available in major supermarkets.

Time to boycott white sugar and artificial (poisonous) sweeterners like aspartame.

Get honey - get real!

Herbalclean - a natural toothpaste alternative

If you look for a fluoride free alternative to factory made mainstream toothpaste brands (and you really should!), we can refer you to Herbalclean toothpaste of Carica brand. Actually it's a combined toothpaste/mouthwash.

According to the information given this all natural product is said to contain Buyo, Bayabas,  Tsa-ang Gubat, Alagaw,  Eucalyptus, Papain, Sili, Paminta, Luya, Kafir, Lime, Mangosteen and Malunggay.

It's said to be Antiseptic, Anti-bacterial/viral, Anti-inflammatory and Blood coagulant.

Should be available at your closest wellstocked Carica agent. Currently the price is a mere P110. That is much cheaper than the imported natural toothpastes of similar kind, which usually cost about twice as much.

Guston Store - a short presentation

Guston Store is a social enterprise based on honor and trust. Our family initiative is serving the needs of small private businesses that would normally not have access to the regular credit market.

This blog is a courtesy to the public in general and local needs in particular. Here we will inform you about services, businesses, companies and products of our preference that we think might have a wider interest.

If you have been helped by the contents of this website, please contact us, and the referral in question, for feedback and further communication.

Kindest regards,

Guston Store, QC.

For thouse on tour - Old Manila Walks

While visiting Manila, you may want to find yourself a little more at home with navigating the big city. Where are the points of interests and how do I find them?

Well, Old Manila Walks offers guided tours on foot for some of these needs. Presenting themselves as "a bunch of passionate, obsessive and saucy ‘street walkers’(!)". They claim to be"determined to walk and talk about one thing: the history, thecultureand the heritage plus everything over, under, outside, insidethis cityof our affections - Manila".

Tours are done in English.Filipino and Mandarin and are specialized on certain old town themes as Intramuros, Chinatown,  Chinese Cemetery, San Miguel and diverse food themes.

Monthy schedules are available at their website (link in text above).

Sencillo - another Mexican treat

For those of you who like mexican food, you may also try Sencillo which has a stand in Trinoma Mall Food Court and a restobar at 34 Sgt.Esguerra st. (near ABS-CBN) in Quezon City (they even have an account at Facebook).

My personal favorite would be the Chimichanga, which could be served with chicken or ground beef. They also serve Tacos, Taco Salad; Quesadilla; Huevos Rancheros; Arros ala Cubana;Enchilada and Nachoritos and a few more dishes.

Mexicali - A Taste of Mexico in the Philippines

We wish to give thumbs up and push for Mexicali. A restaurant and catering service specializing in mexican/baja cali-mexican/tex-mex foods. Some of their specialities like the burritos, tacos and sandwiches are well worth a try. Vegetarians will be happy that a wide range of non-meat foods are offered. Certainly not common in the Philippines!

You may want to visit their website and look for a Mexicali restaurant, near you.

Max Brenner to close?

Israeli owned chocolate cafeteria and restaurant Max Brenner seems to have gone out of business, at least at their Trinoma Mall outlet.

We think it's sad if this nice place would terminate their service.

Anyone who have more specific information about this, please feel free to post a comment!

Chapati now available!

Unless you know how to bake Chapati (or Chapatti) bread (you can find a recipe and instructions here), you can buy ready made frozen ones at SHOPWISE, Cubao and just heat them in the frying pan. You don't need to use any oil or butter.

Hiya!
